Purdie, Rio and Chewy - Part III

A very good day doing the "first background", meaning everything that surrounds the sofa: the outdoors through the window, the window frame, the cards, the vase, the walls, the floor, the nesting tables with the lamp and porcelain telephone. I also started on the area rug.

Joy has recently moved into her new home and has received several well wishing cards displayed on the window sill. It's important to her that they be included in the composition because they represent a significant moment in her life. She also has on the end table a very original and charming lamp made of stacked tea cups. To get a good grasp of the detailed objects, I sketch them beforehand.

Tomorrow, I will refine everything I've done today and start on the "second background": meaning the sofa, quilt and cushion.
It's going remarkably well.
