Purdie, Rio and Chewy - Commissioned Portrait

Volunteering for my local rescue shelter, I've seen abused, traumatized and neglected dogs of every size, colour and breed. To see a picture of these three sweeties, basking in the comfort of their home, obviously loved and cared for like there is no tomorrow, is a sight for sore eyes.
My wish for all dogs in this world is to be in a warm, loving home. This picture sums it up.

Purdie, the little white maltese at the top left, likes to be held like a baby. She has a very expressive face, showing the whites of her eyes a lot. Perhaps this is because she does not like to be ignored, and will voice her every wish using little bark commands. She does not like the rain because it ruins her lovely silky hair, and will only walk for short distances. Purdie is known to be quite the fashionista with her stylish doggie jumpers. Just like my Violet, she has her nasty princess moments - what can we do... noblesse oblige.

Rio, in the centre, is a very stylish mix between a Jack Russel and a poodle. He loves running in the park, going for walks and playing fetch with his ball. He is quite older than the rambunctious Purdie and Chewy, so he regularly gets a break from them and leaves for some quality time to Grandma's home.

Last, but not least, is Chewy. He is Purdie and Rio's son. He's only two, but he drives the household mad. He grew bigger than his mum and dad and so has a louder bark. He likes to play with Purdie, his toys and to fetch his ball; but what he loves the most is his human mum Joy. Like her shadow, he will follow her everywhere.

My client, Joy, has commissioned me to paint her three adorable looking dogs using this photograph she took of them after moving into her new home. I think she really captured their personalities.
