Cocktail FloweRings

This post is more about sculpting than painting, but I thought I would show you my Cocktail FloweRings. They were made throughout the summer mostly for friends and family, offered as gifts. The bloom is made out of polymer clay that is sculpted by hand, petal by petal, then baked, varnished and glued on a sterling silver plated adjustable ring. When Astrid wore one to school, her art teacher commissioned me to make one for her. Electric blue being her favorite colour, she had a cocktail FloweRing especially made for her with a crystal in the center.

She was so pleased with it that she commissioned me to do one for her sister as a birthday gift.
Her sister being a romantic, pearls and pastel colours were the guide lines to make her FloweRing, pale pink being her favorite.

The rose has a subtile degradation, going from darker pink in the center to pale pink on the outer edges. The little dark dots are sparkles that make the rose shimmer in the light.

In the shabby chic spirit, I made a custom package and card to coordinate with her ring. Beautiful glassine paper with a Parisian perfume theme was used for the card, envelope and presentation bag. A double sided printed heavy weight stock was used for the card and puffy box, along with a tassel. (to see how to make a puffy box, go to my Dusty Victorian post on this subject). Happy Belated Birthday to Robyn - Wear with care and be a blooming Diva.

Thank you Ms Levin, for your patronage and encouragement.
