BOARD'EM Fundraiser Art Show-Part VI - Topside Completed

Here we are, the topside of the skateboard completed. I'll wait until both sides are done before varnishing.

I decided to show a small portion of the beetle's body between the wing shells - this to bring back the colour green and make a connection with the head. I also made the eyes bigger and darker. Perfect examples of departing from the template as I go along.

Big, shiny, buggy eyes give life to my beetle.

The veins on the wing shells have been defined. The light or shiny effect is created entirely with paint. At this point the paint finish is quite matte.

Time to flip the skateboard over and start painting the underside.
