The third painting in my Rideau Canal series, inspired by vintage travel posters  - 

Rideau Canal, Merrickville, the Jewel of the Rideau. 

Needless to say, my model had to look previous. Merrickville is a picturesque village known for its Victorian architecture, vibrant artistic community, charming shops and restaurants and rich local history.

 I don’t know if it’s too ambitious, but I intend to visit all the locks, from Ottawa to Kingston and paint the ones that speak to me. A UNESCO heritage site, I find it impressive that such an old structure (1832) is still operational and relevant today. Follow along and see how the next lock turns out.
