Commissioned Portrait - Grandfather and His Cat, Part IV
It was dark and dreary these past two days. Even if I'm not using colour at this stage, I find it important to work in a naturally bright environment. By three o'clock it's just too dark so I have to call it a day. I did manage to get the blanket done. Worked on Abraham and the hands as well, but not enough to show real progress.
My client sent me a shot of her Papa's hands. It helps a lot even if they are not in the position required for the portrait. Shape and length of the fingers and nails, freckles, pleats, veins and hairs. So much details go into hands just like the face, but much harder to draw technically.
