Nigerian Pygmy Goats - Lockett and Rainbow - Commissioned Portraits

Now, this is a completely new project for me. I'm very enthusiastic about it. I'm about to start the portraits of two Nigerian Pygmy goats named Lockett and Rainbow - two little pets with the loveliest markings. I've had the pleasure of painting the portraits of my client's many fury and hairless animal kids. The portraits of these two cuties will be added to her wall.

Locket
Meet Lockett, he has beautiful long horns and long hair. He's a little shy and cautious, but still very sweet and so handsome. He's the introverted one.

Rainbow
Here is Rainbow. His horns did not grow for some reason, but that doesn't make him less striking. His coat is short, shiny with bold markings. Notice the beautiful 'ombré' effect on his back - very stylish. He's more friendly and outgoing -
definitely the extraverted one.

Lockett and Rainbow are part of my client's wonderful menagerie. Seen here, hand-fed and interacting with her human kids, the goats are an integral part of her family - pampered and
loved, as all her pets are.
Nigerian Pygmy goats are very friendly and playful by nature, and their diminutive size make them easy to handle.

They live in ideal surroundings. A large fenced area to keep them safe
with plenty of grass, trees, shade and…

a nice windowed barn for shelter, with food, water and hay.

Goats usually have pale blue or golden brown eyes. Like many hoofed animals, they have rectangular pupils which, at first glance, gives them an eerie appearance. Apparently, this evolutionary trait is common amongst grazing animals and permits them to have a wider peripheral vision even when their head is down.
Very convenient: eat and watch for predators at the same time. Great design.
In the case of Lockett and Rainbow, they both have beautiful golden brown eyes.

Lockett and Rainbow will share the same canvas as they share everything else.

Follow me on this terrific new project and see how it turns out.
