Katie - Shitzu/Poodle Mix, Custom Portrait

Katie is a 12-year-old little rescue from Kismutt. Her past is sketchy, but what we know of her is that she was  owned by someone who was a hoarder. She was rescued by a family member and brought to Kismutt in the hope that she could be placed in a good home. It's not easy to find a home for a senior dog, but Kimberly from Kismutt came through and she was adopted by a lovely and caring lady named Donna.

Katie was one of our foster dogs until she left for her new life with Donna. We really got to know her well. Like most adult dog fosters, she came to us scared, sad, angry and fearful of men. Being a smartie pants, she soon realized that life was much better than before and became the most playful and vivacious little senior we had ever encountered. We actually could not believe that she was an old dog. The shot above was taken in my daughter's bedroom soon after we got her. You can see the anger in her eyes, reminiscent of a little wolf.

Katie lives the happiest and healthiest life with Donna and gets loads of love and attention. She is more like a sweet bunny rabbit than a little wolf now.

People are turned off by adopting a senior dog, yet there are many positives. They are most likely to be fully trained, obedient and socialized, to name just a few. Due to their high intelligence, dogs have a tremendous capacity for adapting to new situations, especially if they are improved situations., What is most astounding is their capacity to love new people.

Here are the progress shots of Katie's portrait until completion.

Thank you Donna for giving an old dog a chance at a good life. We know that with you she will end her life in the best way possible. Thank you also for your generosity and support. Your gift to Kismutt will soon be delivered.
