Pet Portrait Commission - Zoey, Poodle Mix

 

A new pet portrait is about to start. 

This little cutie pie is

Zoey Patricia Davidson, born April 20, 2015

In the words of her human mom Angela:

Zoey is a small and easy going dog, with a big heart and a lot of energy. 

She is an avid speed walker and enjoys weekends at the cottage 

and long walks on the beach. 

When Zoey is indoors her favourite hobbies are long naps on the couch, 

snuggling with family and playing with her stuffed animals. 

Zoey is also an active neighborhood watch member.

I believe that knowing more about my subjects personality makes for a better portrait 

as I don’t always have the pleasure of meeting the beloved pet in person. 

Zoey’s portrait has been commissioned for a wedding gift to Angela 

from her Aunt Diane.

Here is a preliminary sketch of Zoey on the couch with a plaid throw. 

It’s the first of many more steps.

I like to work with elements found in Zoey’s home, 

where she’s loved, happy and comfortable.

Provided by Angela, below are several shots of Zoey in different situation and lighting. These are very helpful in getting a sense of her body type, size and colouring, as well as her spunkiness.

Zoey has a distinctive feature: a tooth that sticks out, adding so much character.
