I love plants, especially the ones that produce gorgeous blooms.
I first saw the Medinilla in a local nursery and I was awe stricken. Unfortunately, my home is not an ideal environment for tropical specimens requiring high humidity so I walked away and did the next best thing - I painted one. This way, my Medillina is always healthy and in bloom. As usual, I added a little creature to the composition, an orchid praying mantis, well camouflaged amongst the pink bracts - can you spot it? The Chinese pot is placed on a stack of some of my favourite subjects - fashion, nature, architecture and art. A book pedestal to allow the arching panicles room to hang freely.
